Becoming a member of BSME (British Schools of the Middle East) is an important milestone in establishing GPS as a part of a network of high quality British international schools in the region.
Currently, there are 144 member schools in the ME and 108 partners globally. BSME is an important hub for teachers in terms of continuing professional development, networking, taking advantage of webinars and resources.
We look to the BSME to assist us with QA (Quality Assurance) and to ensure that we continue on the track to become a school of choice for parents not only in Jebel Ali but further afield across Dubai.
BSME prides itself on the ability to offer unique experiences for students to represent their school and participate in both competitive and non-competitive sporting events with other BSME students across the Middle East.
Their aim is to foster teamwork and determination, celebrate diversity within the region and provide every student with the opportunity to be the best they can be. The BSME students programme is largely hosted by member schools, which strive to provide the best experience for our students. Student events, including the BSME Games, are offered exclusively to BSME member schools, but this year are cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. However, GPS will be looking to take part once things are back up and running.
Other networks include Arabic for Native (and non-Native) Speakers; Data and Assessment; Digital Technology, Drama; EAL, (English as an Additional Language); EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum); Geography; History; IPC (GPs’ 2nd popular curriculum); Leadership Matters; MFL (Modern Foreign Languages); More Able, Gifted and Talented; Music, Dance, PE, Primary English and Maths; Science; Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment; SEND, Teaching & Learning, as well as Secondary School networks….
GPS may be small, but we have much to contribute to the BSME network of schools as well as benefit from it. We are looking forward to our first formal visit by BSME later this year.
